Youth Programs

The Sons of the American Revolution are direct descendants of those patriots that achieved the independence of the American people. The objectives of our organization are intended to perpetuate a more profound reverence for the principles of the government founded by our forefathers.

As part of a national effort, the Kansas Society supports and promotes four youth recognition and honors programs. They are: Joseph Rumbaugh Orations Contest, Eagle Scout Contest, George & Stella Knight Essay Contest, and JROTC recognition. The competition begins at the (local) chapter level. Contestants living 75 miles beyond a chapter may enter as "at large" and will be judged in that group.

Chapter winners participate in state-level competition. Scholarship recognition is received by the best qualifier. That person then competes at the National level where a much larger scholarship recognition is awarded.

We invite you to read the following pages to learn about these recognition and honors programs. The research and preparation of your presentation will be interesting and you will have a better understanding of the history and founding ideals of the United States of America.
